Internet in Brazil: ranking top 5 of active Twitter users
Half of active Twitter users live in five countries, the United States, Japan, Indonesia, the UK and Brazil, according to research done by the website stats Statista.
The largest number of active users of Twitter is in the United States, with 24.3%. Japan ranks second with 9.3%, followed by Indonesia (6.5%), UK (5.6%), Brazil (4.3%), Spain (4.3%) and Saudi Arabia (4.1%).
The list ends with Turkey (3%), Mexico (3%), Russia (2.6%), Argentina (2.6%), France (2.1%) and Colombia (1.9%). The remaining countries account for 26% of active Twitter users.
The research used data from PeerReach which includes 13 countries with the largest number of active users on the microblogging site.
The study considers active users who tweet at least once a month. Twitter — on the other hand — considers active Twitter users who connect with username and password in the service. About 40% of monthly active users of microblog posts do not publish, just connect to the site.
