Spending by Brazilian tourists overseas totaled $ 8.33 billion from January to May/2011, announced the Brazilian Central Bank.

Thus, advanced 45% from the same period last year (U.S. $ 5.72 billion) hit a new record for this period. The series begins in BC in 1947.

In May/2011 alone, the expenditure incurred by Brazilians abroad totaled $ 1.66 billion, which also represents a new record that month.

Rising costs of Brazilian tourists abroad is encouraged by the growth of employment and income in Brazil and also devalued the dollar – a factor that lowers air tickets and hotels listed in U.S. currency. Throughout 2010, the amount spent, $ 16.4 billion, was also the largest in history.
