Advertising in China: Ad Spend Soars 15% to $47.4 Billion

China’s economy maintained its fast pace of growth as GDP soared by 11.2% during the first half of 2010 to an estimated RMB 17.28 trillion ($2.6 trillion), according to Nielsen Company. That includes even higher growth of 18.2% for consumer goods, with spending totaling RMB 7.23 trillion ($1.1 trillion).

China’s advertising sector has also shown similar rapid growth. Advertising spend on traditional media, including television, newspapers, magazines and radio reached RMB 315 billion ($47.4 billion), a 15% increase.
