Digital Culture in China: INTERACTION DESIGN

Lynnette Chan and I recently gave a talk on the topic of “Digital Culture in China” for the Digital Culture Working Group Session during the last Cumulus conference organised by Tongji University in Shanghai.

While Lynnette shared an user research project on Digital versus Traditional Magazines she has recently completed on 1st, 2nd and 3rd tier cities in China, I’ve talked about creating interactive experiences from a Chinese Internet Market perspective.

This presentation was the recollection of a series of discussions and/or interviews I’ve had with Chinese designers during my design practice in China, both as Assistant Program Manager of the Visual Communication Department of Raffles Design Institute (DongHua University), as User Experience Manager at Autodesk, and as local coordinator of the Interaction Design Association (IxDA) in Shanghai.

Itamar Medeiros

Originally from Brazil, Itamar Medeiros currently lives in Germany, where he works as Lead Product Design Strategist at SAP and promotes User Experience Design as visiting lecturer at Köln International School of Design. Working in the Information Technology industry since 1998, Itamar Medeiros has helped truly global companies in several countries (Argentina, Brazil, China, Germany, Hong Kong, India, Mexico, The Netherlands, Poland, United Arab Emirates, United States) create great user experience through advocating Design and Innovation principles. During his 7 years in China, he championed the User Experience Design discipline as User Experience Manager at Autodesk and Local Coordinator of the Interaction Design Association (IxDA) in Shanghai
