Living in China: employees see bigger salaries in Shanghai

The average salary of Shanghai employees reached 3,566 yuan (US$522) a month in 2009, an 8.3-percent year-on-year rise, said the Shanghai Human Resources and Social Security Bureau.

The average monthly salary in 2008 was 3,292 yuan, a 13.8-percent increase from 2007. The city’s unemployed and those handicapped from work injuries are able to get higher subsidies starting in April/2010.
